Travel slower.
A small-group trekking operator invisible on Google, with every booking arriving through a marketplace taking 25%.
Where it started.
Wild Fern had eleven years of operating history, guides who spoke four hill-tribe languages, and a domain that ranked for nothing. Every booking came through GetYourGuide at 25% commission. The site had four pages and no itinerary detail, so there was nothing for Google to rank and nothing for a traveller to commit to.
Three moves that changed it.
One page per journey
Each trek became a full itinerary page: day-by-day route, elevation, walking hours, what you carry, where you sleep, and who the guide is. Long, specific pages that answer the questions a marketplace listing cannot.
Write for the real searches
"Two day trek Mae Hong Son", "responsible hill tribe trek Thailand", "slow travel Pai itinerary". Search terms that show someone deciding, not browsing.
Make the ethics checkable
A page naming the villages, the guide payment structure and the group size cap. It ranks, it earns links, and it converts the exact traveller who chooses this kind of operator.
